From the Principal

This school year is flying by.  We all appreciate how supportive everyone has been with regard to our “safety changes” here at Nicolas Valley.  Please remember it is not that you are not welcome on campus, we just need you to sign in through the front office. Also remember that we ask that you do not play with the children out on the playground.  Unfortunately we have had some students with injuries because of some aggressive or competitive play out there.  Thank you in advance for your understanding; we are all about safety!  We only want children walking through any of the side gates.  We love that so many of you want to have lunch with your children or want to volunteer in the classrooms.  We are all a team, working together to make our school a safe place to learn and grow.

While parent-teacher conferences are only officially scheduled during October, we want to remind you to feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher at any time during the school year.  You can always ask to meet and discuss any questions or concerns you might have regarding your child’s education.  Communication is the key- don’t wait until you are frustrated and upset to reach out.  We are here to help and to answer your questions.

Keep an eye on your calendars!  We have many fun events and activities happening in the next couple of months before Spring Break.  The PTA and classroom teachers will also have further communication as each event nears.  We hope to see you there.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please email, or call me 695-7180.  Email is probably the most effective way to contact me as I can check it even if I am off site.  If you choose to leave a message with my office staff or voicemail, just keep in mind I will not get it until I am back in my office.  My goal is to be around campus and in classrooms with the students as much as possible!

Having a great year,

Chrissy Harman
