From the Principal

I can't believe it is October already!  This year seems to be flying by.  We have so many exciting things coming up here at NVES.  We have our annual book fair, Fall Festival, and Character Day all happening in October.  We also have parent teacher conferences the week of October 16-20.  Please remember that the entire week is Modified, with dismissal at 1:00pm.  If you have not already responded to your child's teacher regarding a day and time for your conference, please do so as soon as possible.  If you have an emergency and need to cancel your conference, please make sure to do with as much as notice as possible.  Remember our teachers do spend much time preparing for your time; it is individualized to your child.  This is your opportunity to ask all questions and voice any concerns you might have.  We cannot help you or child or fix a situation if we are not aware of it.  We are all here for the students.  We all want what is best for them socially, emotionally, and academically.  We ask that you are a supportive part of that team, working hand in hand to help all of our students be the best they can be.

Thank you to everyone who has remembered that our gates do not open until 8:40am.  This means there is no supervision, so nobody should be on campus.  We have done a great job following this rule.  We always want parent volunteers and love that many of you come to have lunch with your child.  We ask that you just remember to sign in and out as either a volunteer or visitor when ever you enter or exit campus.  This is for everyone's safety; we need to know who is on campus.  Please remember that we ask that you do not play with the children out on the playground.  Unfortunately we have had some students with injuries because of some aggressive or competitive play out there.  You are welcome to coach, referee, or cheer on the students, just don't join them in the activity.  Thank you in advance for your understanding; we are all about safety!

If you ever have any questions or concerns please email, charman@tvusd.k12.ca.us or call me 695-7180.  Email is probably the most effective way to contact me as I can check it even if I am off site.  If you choose to leave a message with my office staff or voicemail, just keep in mind I will not get it until I am back in my office.  My goal is to be around campus and in classrooms with the students as much as possible!

Having a great year,

Chrissy Harman
